Down but not out

Still in hossie but I’ve just had some morphine so I’m vaguely functional.

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has sent me messages of support.
It’s more appreciated than I can easily say.

Secondly, the hospital trust chaplain did the rounds yesterday and when she eventually came to me I made sure I was alert and I asked her a question.

I said that as I understand the trust setup, the hospital is partly government funded and partly from the enterprises the trust can involve itself in to raise extra revenue.
She agreed on these broad terms but didn’t know the details. No worries.

Then I asked “From which of these sources or combination of sources is the chaplaincy service funded ?”

She actually seemed genuinely interested in the question especially when I recast it as the funding source potentially coming from my tax contributions and promised to ask the higher-ups what the situation is.

I look forward to the answer.

A small spanner but at least they know someone is asking questions.
