The Creationists are coming! Again!

John MacKay is coming to Winchester Guildhall on Wednesday 2nd Oct at 7:15.

John MacKay

John MacKay

John MacKay is the International Director of Creation Research a Young Earth Creationist propaganda mill based in Australia.  Mackay has been around for 30 years and was previously associated with Ken Ham.  His background is in Geology and rejects all evidence of an old earth and evolution.  Nowadays he goes around selling his books and DVDs to an unsuspecting audience.

His talk will be on:

  1. God’s signature in Creation – Allah or Christ?
  2. The Rocks cry out!

Let’s give him a warm Skeptical welcome to our City and remind him that there’s no such thing as a free lunch.  As previous, the other main motivation is to speak to the other attendees and let them know that Skepticism isn’t a dirty word and Skeptics don’t eat babies.

If you’re free we’ll meet at 6:45 in Pitcher & Piano, a few doors down from The Guildhall.

  • Just so you know, this MacKay bloke is fractionally more sophisticated than yer average street creationist. His website is, and it might be as well to check out his particular methods and favourite lines of attack on there. Hoping to come along myself.

  • Thanks for coming to the Guildhall on Wednesday. I got some stick as chairman for not shutting up the ‘I’m so offended’ female ‘sceptic’, but you can’t please everyone. I believe in free speech even when offensive.

    Do you?

If so, I’m sure I could be persuaded to address your group on the intelligent design hypothesis.

    kind regards

    Stephen Hayes

Jonny Scaramanga is giving a talk at Winchester Skeptics on Thursday 31st July. His talk is on his experience of ACE (Accelerated Christian Education).

This is a quotation form the flier:

“Jonny Scaramanga attended a fundamentalist Christian school in the ’90s where he learned that the Loch Ness Monster disproved evolution, God disapproved of the NHS, and homosexuals were an abomination to God. He has since discovered that almost all he learned at school was wrong.”

You’d be very welcome to join us at the Discovery Centre, and have the opportunity to meet him if you like. I’ll leave a ticket at the ticket desk for you if you say who you are when you arrive.

Additionally, we have a discussion group that meets every month, sometimes on a Saturday morning, sometimes on a Sunday morning. Jonathan McAlroy runs that and will be in touch to invite you to join us for one of those where we could discuss intelligent design or young earth creationism.
