As was mentioned before I will be moving abroad beginning of August. As most people do when a new chapter is about to begin I have been looking back at my time living in the UK and have realized that one of the events with the most impact on my life has been finding the skeptics’ “movement” (I am aware this term can be a mine field but I cannot think of a better word right now) and getting involved with Winchester Skeptics in the pub starting form the first initial pub tour scouting for a venue in December 2009.
Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed the speakers and even more the Skeptics in the curry house afterwards. It is to my chagrin that I am now leaving just a few months after starting to organize/promote our new social meet-up “Skeptics of the Round Table”, I would have loved to see what this is developing into … But there is no reason for concern here as Clio and Malcolm have agreed to take over the SotRT meetings from August onwards so expect to hear from them soon.
While preparing the move I have also drawn up a list of things I wanted to do before leaving the country (call it my “bucket list” before the move): One of these is a visit to Charles Darwin’s home Down House in Kent, another one is to have kind of “leaving do” with the Winchester Skeptics.
The problem is always the same: so much to do and so little time. Which is why I would like to combine these two:
Is anybody interested to meet up at Down House on Sunday 29 July at 11:00 am to take a tour of Darwin’s home?
After the tour we could go and find a little restaurant nearby to enjoy a meal (maybe even a curry …)

Sounds a brilliant idea – count me in!
Me too.
