Okie cokie. After a long assessment and selection process to find the best venue for the StiP meetings we finally chose the place with the best beer. No that’s not right. This is a skeptics society. Try again. *clears throat* We finally chose the place with the best beer. Umm. Might need to reassess this.
Actually it does have pretty good beer, plenty of guest ales and presumably a selection of other beverages all fountaining out of extremely shiny and well lit electric pump assemblies in precisely the way that the marketing men wanted them to. Sorry, I’m exposing my prejudices now. 
So, the place has good beer.

You’ll be glad to know that assuming nothing untoward or bizarrely improbable happens The Hampshire Skeptics Society will be holding the first Winchester Skeptics In The Pub meeting at The Royal Oak pub in the heart of ancient Winchester. It’s the haunted one just in case you’d forgotten. Where we get to meet underground. In a dungeon. Awesome.
I did go back to Winchester to scout out some more venues. I’m afraid I don’t have much to report other than they were very expensive or unsuitable or didn’t have a function room at all.
Anyway The Royal Oak in Winchester is the chosen venue.
The first meeting is the inaugural event and will be held on the 28th of January 2010. We intend to have the meetings on the last Thursday of every month at 7pm. As soon as we’ve finalised the details there will be full information in the events calendar and a link to a page with all the details of how to get there, transport links, parking, exactly where the place is with pictures etc… There’ll also be the details of who the speakers already lined up are.
I’ll leave you in suspense about who’s coming to break our SitP cherry but I can assure you it’s someone you know well. I have wanted to hear them speak for some time.
So get yourself together and come on down. It’ll be fun. See you there.
