After the stunning success of the global Atheist Bus Campaign the British Humanist Association are on the move with a new campaign of billboards around the country. Thus far in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London but plenty more to come.
From the BHA website :
“The billboards are being unveiled to coincide with Universal Children’s Day, 20 November, which is the United Nations ‘day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children’. Labelling children as if they innately “belong” to a particular religion, while ascribing incompatible beliefs to infants who “belong” to other religions, can only serve as an obstacle to understanding between children around the world.”
A beginning of the journey down the road to preventing the distortion of childrens’ minds by their unthinking parents. Unfeeling ? No. Uncaring ? Absolutely not. Unthinking is the right word. Parents do not think about this issue. Why ? Because they are almost certainly not aware of the damage that it is possible to cause the infinitely malleable mind of a child by constraining it within the boundaries of a rigid dogma. If they were I venture to suggest that most if not all would put the developmental well-being of their child ahead of their own belief system.
This campaign of awareness raising is the first large scale step along that road to more thinking parents. Excellent.
So check it out by clicking the pic, join the Facebook group, put a link on your site or blog and make a donation towards the betterment of parents and their children.
