Question. Explore. Discover.

Nice to see my cryptic post raised some eyebrows in puzzlement.
And it was all about a fantastic new conference put together by the MSS and GMSS. It sounds like great fun so I’m straight off to reserve my ticket, I suggest you do the same :
Announcing QED: Question. Explore. Discover.
As part of the 2011 skeptical calendar [...] [...]

There will be a talk about the ‘One Law for All’ campaign against the adoption of Sharia Law in the UK which will be presented by the noted rights activist Maryam Namazie.

Down but not out

Still in hossie but I’ve just had some morphine so I’m vaguely functional.
Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has sent me messages of support.
It’s more appreciated than I can easily say.
Secondly, the hospital trust chaplain did the rounds yesterday and when she eventually came to me I made sure I was alert and [...] [...]

Give Homeopathy Another Push…

… preferably off a funding precipice.
Let’s give the government another push and get some extra weight behind the recommendations of the Commons Science and Technology Evidence Committee.
They reported the absence of efficacy beyond placebo of homeopathy and that it should not be funded via the NHS.
“To maintain patient trust, choice and safety, the Government should not endorse the [...] [...]

SitP Follow Up...

On Thursday night we had an excellent Q&A session after Richard Wilson’s superb talk at the Roebuck Inn. Some of the questions involved answers that require some follow up and several people have emailed links to websites that were part of the discussions so I’m linking to them below.
They will also be part of the [...] [...]

1023 Campaign - Southampton Swallowing

We had a fantastic turn out for the Southampton swallowing which proceded without incident. Although we were getting the eye from a Boots security guard who had been sent outside, presumably by one of the more aware shop managers, to see what the group of strangely dressed people in the middle of the street were doing. Well I [...] [...]

SitP Venue Change !

Due to unprecidented demand (WOO HOO !) we have had to change the venue of our first Skeptics in the Pub meeting.
The new venue is The Roebuck Inn at 57 Stockbridge Rd  Winchester, SO22 6RP. It’s closer to the station than the Royal Oak but in the opposite direction. It’s an easy 500 metre stroll from the station.
There’s [...] [...]

10:23 How Much Do You Really Know About Homeopathy ?

Many people believe homeopathy is “herbal medicine” or simply “all-natural remedies”. Few people realise homeopathy has been proven not to work; even fewer know it involves substances so dilute that there’s nothing left in them. Homeopathy takes advantage of this uncertainty to sit alongside real, proven medicines on the shelves of our major pharmacies.
Homeopathy is [...] [...]
